Counselling Exeter: About me; Brian Dennis, Counsellor:
I am an experienced and fully qualified counsellor, practising in Central Exeter. I am a fully accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, (BACP).
I am listed on the BACP Accredited Voluntary Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. This register is accredited under a recent scheme set up by the Department of Health; it is administered by an independent body, accountable to Parliament.
My training in integrated counselling with a BACP accredited course enabled me to gain the Advance Diploma in Integrated Counselling, as well as various other formal counselling qualifications. I attend many short courses of continuous professional development, providing me with further knowledge and information to advance my counselling skills and practice. I believe that all information is useful, I wish to gain more information of all subjects to enhance my life.
I recently studied at Bath Spa University, gaining a Masters Degree in research of counselling and psychotherapy practise.
I maintain and improve my qualifications and skills with various workshops and courses on an ongoing basis. Continuous professional development is an obligation and necessary to maintain and improve a counsellor's professional skills, considerations and thoughts.
In addition to my work with my private clients, I work as a counsellor with several Employment Assistance Program (EAP) companies. I am also recognised by BUPA to work as a counsellor with their members. Clickhere to go to the BUPA counsellor finder page.
EAP companies are companies who arrange counselling for employees of companies and organizations, such as Devon County Council, Devon and Cornwall Police, etc.
My counselling profession is my current activity. My previous professions include being a General Manager and Managing Director of my own company in Portugal, as well as maintenance and installation of telecommunications systems in many varied locations worldwide.
I have travelled widely in my life, having had a wish to see and experience life in many parts of the world whilst working in those places. That has given me a wide experience of the various cultures and people of the the locations that I have been privileged to visit and reside in. Many places were enjoyable, some might be described as "challenging"; all were interesting.
I sincerely believe in the benefit of counselling, having realised the improvement both in my own life and those of others.
